From Data Centers to Strategic Leadership: My Journey in Tech

https://ishailingan.com/resume

Welcome to my site. I wanted to share a little bit about myself and the professional journey that led me here. My career has been about more than just a job; it’s a testament to the power of combining deep technical expertise with a strategic, leadership-driven mindset.

My professional foundation is built on IT service development, data center operations, and process optimization. These are the skills that have allowed me to roll up my sleeves and tackle complex, real-world problems. But beyond the technical, I’ve always been driven by a passion for strategic planning and execution and analytical problem solving. I believe that truly impactful work happens when you can not only fix a problem but also see the bigger picture and design a better path forward.

For the past few years at Google, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to work as a Technical Program Manager. In this role, I’ve been able to apply my skills to “Run the Business” operations for Google’s scaled cluster networks, including AI and machine learning systems. One of my proudest achievements was building customized dashboards with integrated systems that could detect anomalies and predict department metrics. I also developed a lean system to dramatically reduce customer-facing downtime from weeks to a matter of hours. My journey at Google also included a role as a DevOps Engineer, where I performed deep analysis of fleet reliability and crafted highly parallelized automation programs to diagnose problems across the entire Google fleet.

Before Google, I gained valuable hands-on experience as a Data Center SiteOps Engineer at Pandora Media , where I had to anticipate and respond to globally impactful site events. I also spent time as the Chief Operating Officer of an early social media network, a position that allowed me to wear many hats—from overseeing technology initiatives to managing a team of 35-50 content moderators.

Academically, I hold both a Master of Business Administration in Information Systems Management and a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems and Business Analytics from Colorado State University-Global Campus. I’ve also been dedicated to continuous learning and have earned certifications in Google Project Management, Agile Project Management, and Lean Six Sigma.

My story shows how a passion for technology, combined with a commitment to strategic thinking, can pave the way for a dynamic and impactful career. I’m excited to share more of what I’ve learned on this blog, and I hope you’ll join me on this journey.
